Military Suicides Remain High

The Pentagon reported on Friday, 4/1, that 265 active-duty service members committed suicide last year.  This continues a disturbingly high suicide rate that has been ongoing for at least seven years.  The numbers of suicides in 2001 was 145 with 321 in 2012.  The increase in suicide in the military was driven largely by the Army where suicides rose sharply from 45 in 2001 to 165 in 2012.  USA Today

Editor’s note:  Our soldiers and vets need our help.  They have given much for the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted.  Let’s show them we care.

260,000 Vets Stripped of Gun Rights

Senate Republicans are seeking to understand the Veterans Affairs office practice of reporting veterans to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check system.  As of December 2015, the VA has reported 260,381 individuals to the FBI, effectively making them prohibited firearms possessors under the law.  Andrew Mark Miller, Young Conservatives

Congress, VA Mull Options to Fix Broken Veterans’ Care Program

The Veterans Affairs Department and Congress have a busy year ahead. The  VA is looking for congressional action on more than 100 legislative proposals, 40 of them are new this year.  Perhaps most notably, the department is looking for help to fix the Veterans Choice Program, which both Congress and the VA acknowledge is largely broken.  The program lets veterans find care outside of the VA under certain conditions.  Veterans Today

Marines Brace for Mandatory Sensitivity Training

If you need more proof that the Obama administration has turned the greatest fighting force on the planet into a social engineering petri dish, just consider what’s about to be forced upon the Marine Corps.  Marines will soon be forced to attend “unconscious bias” training–in advance of women joining the infantry. The seminar will focus on how people prejudge others based on factors like race and gender.   Todd Starnes, Fox News
